Märklin SK 800 streamlined express locomotive with tender, gauge H0 Streamlined express steam locomotive with tender of gauge H0 by Märklin, model SK 800, 1940s/1950s. Zinc die-cast body, painted black with encircling light decorative lines, red spoked wheels, three driven axles. The locomotive side is lettered 'SK 800', the tender 'MÄRKLIN'. The tender roof is cracked. The electrics respond (light illuminates, motor hums), however the drive is seized and gummed up due to the long period of standing; servicing and cleaning are required. Played-with condition, with signs of ageing. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The SK 800 came onto the market in 1939 as the top model of the Märklin range and remained available, with war-related interruptions, until 1958/59; from 1957 it ran under the number 3007. It is among the best-known Märklin steam locomotives of all. In the collectors' trade it is assigned to the prototype of class 06, without Märklin itself ever having stated a class - the model bears only the lettering 'SK 800'. The real class 06, with the wheel arrangement 2'D2', was the largest and heaviest German express locomotive; Krupp delivered only two examples in 1939, which remained single pieces due to boiler damage and were scrapped in 1951.
