Märklin gauge 00 (H0) electric locomotive HS 800 turquoise, metal construction 1940–1946 Electric locomotive HS 800, gauge 00 (H0), by Märklin in metal construction. Blue-green (turquoise) livery with a silver-grey roof and gold-coloured decorative lines, cabs with front windows at both ends, two pantographs, embossed lettering 'MÄRKLIN'. Version of 1940–1946 with bar couplings at both ends. Played-with condition with paint loss, the two carrying axles are missing. The electrics respond (motor hums), however the drive is seized due to the long period of standing (gummed up). Servicing and cleaning are imperative. The track section shown serves only for presentation. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The HS 800 belongs to the classic 800 series by Märklin (from 1938), valued for its robust metal construction. Märklin introduced the HS 800 in 1938 in green and with claw coupling. The present piece is the version of 1940 to 1946 with bar coupling, listed by Koll as the grey-blue variant (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, HS 800, variant 3). From 1947 the model had pantographs of type 4. A sought-after collector's model of this era. Recorded in the consignor's collection index as a 'Jugendlok' (locomotive from his youth).
