Märklin gauge 00 (H0) steam locomotive HR 800 with tender, black, metal, 1938 Steam locomotive HR 800 with tender, gauge 00 (H0), by Märklin in metal construction. Black livery with red spoked wheels and red running gear, embossed lettering 'HR 800' and 'MÄRKLIN' on the cab. Pre-war version with open brush housing, headlamps without lamp brackets and four-axle tinplate tender. Played-with condition with paint chips, partly overpainted, the chassis frame is cracked. The electrics respond (light on, motor hums), however the drive is seized due to the long period of standing (gummed up). Servicing and cleaning are imperative. The track section shown serves only for presentation. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The HR 800 reproduces the express locomotive of class 01 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and belongs to the classic Märklin 800 series, valued for its heavy metal construction. Märklin introduced the HR 800 in 1938 as the successor to the HR 700. The present piece is the first version of 1938 with open brush housing, cast-on pipework and four-axle tinplate tender (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, HR 800, variant 1). From 1947 the post-war version HR 800 N received round lamp brackets, a brush housing with cover, applied pipework and a cast tender. Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
