Märklin HR 800 Steam Locomotive Class 01 of the 800 Series, Gauge H0, 1940s/1950s Gauge H0 steam locomotive by Märklin from the 800 series, the prototype being the Class 01 express locomotive with a 2'C1' wheel arrangement. Die-cast zinc body, painted black, frame and running board edge lined in red, three driving and coupled wheels with red spokes, in front of them a two-axle leading bogie, behind the cab a trailing axle. Large Wagner smoke deflectors on both sides next to the smokebox, long boiler with three domes, silver-coloured motion, cab with cut-out windows and raised lettering "HR 800" on the side walls. The model is offered without its matching tender. Played with, showing signs of age. The electrics respond, the light switches on and the motor hums, but owing to the long period of storage the drive is seized and gummed up; servicing and cleaning are essential. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The piece of track shown serves for presentation only. 360-degree photo on our website. Class 01 was the first standard express locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1925 and remained in service hauling heavy express trains into the 1970s. Märklin carried it through several model generations within the 800 series: first as the HR 800, from 1947 as the largely redesigned HR 800 N and from 1952 as the considerably more delicate F 800, which remained in production until 1972 and, in the Primex range, even until 1992. The large Wagner smoke deflectors identify the early prototype version.
