Märklin RS 800 Electric Locomotive Gauge H0 in Blue-Green, 1930s to 1940s Gauge H0 electric locomotive by Märklin, model RS 800. Die-cast zinc body, painted blue-green with a light grey roof, the chassis bears on both sides the raised lettering "MÄRKLIN" and "RS 800". Two powered axles, two scissor-type pantographs on the roof with green-lined bases and red-painted roof cabling, applied grab rails at the sides, windows with backed glazing, lamps at both ends. Played with, showing signs of age and paint chipping; the body repainted at a later date. The function of the locomotive has been tested and is given. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The piece of track shown serves for presentation only. 360-degree photo on our website. The RS 800 belongs to the first generation of the 800 series, with which Märklin introduced the Perfekt switching system in 1938, the alternating-current system with overvoltage reversing that is still in use in analogue operation today. These early models were designed around two universal standard chassis; the RS 800 used the two-axle frame it shared with the R 800, SLR 800 and T 800. After the war the model appeared in slightly altered form and was later redesigned as the RS 800 N.
