Märklin TWE 700 railcar in red and cream, gauge 00 (H0), 1936–1939 Fast railcar of the Märklin brand, type TWE 700, in gauge 00 (H0). Lithographed tinplate body in red and cream with a silver-grey roof, lettering 'TWE 700' as well as 'Märklin Made in Germany' and the class designations '1' and '2'. Pre-war version of 1936–1939 with manual switch lever on the roof, one headlamp at each end and open brush housing. Played-with condition. Function not present, servicing and care needed. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The track section shown serves only for presentation. The TWE 700 was produced by Märklin from 1936 to 1939. The high-speed railcar with the wheel arrangement Bo'Bo' is among the firm's early tinplate railcars and is a sought-after collector's piece of pre-war production. Besides the ivory-and-red version with the lettering 'TWE 700' there were the blue TWE 700 B and the red TWE 700 R with pantograph. The present piece is the ivory-and-red version with manual switching and two headlamps (Koll's Kompaktkatalog Märklin 00/H0, 1983, TWE 700, variant 1). Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
