The Nuremberg company Karl Bub, founded in 1851, produced toy cars and toy trains with clockwork and electric drive from around 1905 and in 1932 took over tools of its bankrupt competitor Bing; production ceased in 1966. The guard is a composition figure by the company O. & M. Hausser, which from 1910 sold its figures, pressed from sawdust, glue and kaolin over a wire frame and hand-painted, under the brand name Elastolin, which became a generic term for composition figures. The plastic box comes from the Märklin Sprint range, the electric slot car racing track in 1:32 scale that Märklin produced from 1967 to 1982.
