Karl Bub set tinplate railway gauge 0, station, tank wagon and accessories Large set of railway accessories, gauge 0, of tinplate, predominantly by Karl Bub (KBN, Nuremberg), probably 1920s/1930s. Included are, among others, a lithographed station, a direction indicator with destination boards ('Leipzig', 'Karlsruhe'), a tank wagon with 'BV-ARAL' lettering, two open goods wagons (designated 'Deutsche Reichsbahn Nürnberg 19726'), a lattice fence, several buildings (half-timbered tower, gatekeeper's house), a warning sign 'Halt! wenn die Schranke geschlossen', signals, lettered train boards ('Express-Zug', 'Extrazug', 'Eil-Zug', 'Schnell-Zug') as well as further accessories and spare parts. Tinplate, partly colour lithographed. Played-with condition, with strong signs of ageing (paint abrasion, rust, deformations). The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The Nuremberg firm Karl Bub (KBN), founded in 1851, was among the pioneers of tinplate toy railways. After taking over large parts of the railway production of Gebrüder Bing in 1932, Bub was one of the leading manufacturers of gauge 0 railways, tinplate cars and accessories in the interwar period; production ended in 1966. Lithographed stations, gatekeeper's houses and signals of this kind were part of the equipment of the table railway layouts of the 1920s and 1930s and are sought-after collector's pieces today.
