LGB Tram Railcar Wuppertaler Stadtwerke No. 3 with Driver Figure, Gauge G Metal and plastic, finished in yellow with green lining stripes and railings, the roof grey. Two-axle tram railcar with enclosed passenger compartment and two open platforms hung with chains. On the roof the route boards 'WUPPERTALER STADTWERKE', on the end faces the car number 3 and the destination board 'Toelleturm', on the doors the signs 'Nichtraucher'. Bow-type current collector with suspension and lateral roof fittings, footboards on the chassis, passenger compartment with wooden benches and glazed windows. On the front platform a driver figure in blue uniform with peaked cap at the controller. Played with. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The Toelleturm in the south of Wuppertal was the upper station of the Barmen mountain railway opened in 1894, the world's first electrically operated rack railway, and remained a well-known destination until the end of tram operation in Barmen in 1987. In 1947 the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke took over all the city's transport undertakings and from then on operated the tramway, whose metre-gauge network was closed in 1970. Two-axle railcars with open platforms characterised the appearance of the early electric trams and are a sought-after collecting subject as large-scale models.
