The Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM) passed into the ownership of Frederick the Great on 19 September 1763, who gave it this name. Its company emblem is the cobalt-blue sceptre from the Electoral Brandenburg coat of arms, which is applied after the first firing and before glazing. After the end of the monarchy in 1918 the manufactory became the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin; the KPM emblem and the sceptre mark were retained.
