Ernst Kabisch (1866 to 1951) was a General of Infantry and after his retirement in 1921 published numerous works of military history, above all on the battles of the First World War. The Oberkommando der Wehrmacht's picture volume on the Balkan campaign appeared in 1941. Köhlers illustrierter Flotten-Kalender was a naval yearbook from Minden in Westphalia; the 41st year for 1943 came out in 1942, edited by Rear Admiral Gadow. The Kriegsflugzeuge series was produced with the involvement of the Reich Air Ministry; the edition as of summer 1942 appeared in 1942 from Spohr-Verlag Dresden. Together the volumes form a piece of contemporary military literature and war journalism of the years 1940 to 1943 on the army, air force and navy.
