The 3.7 cm Pak was one of the most widely built German anti-tank guns: developed from 1925, in mass production from 1933 and renamed "3,7-cm-Panzerabwehrkanone" on 1 July 1936, it was used by the Wehrmacht on all fronts in the Second World War until it was replaced from 1941 by the 5 cm Pak 38 and the 7.5 cm Pak 40. Its light split-trail carriage with gun shield could be moved by hand by the crew; the designation "Pak 36" for this gun only dates from the post-war period. The Gesellschaft für Sport und Technik (GST) was the paramilitary mass organisation of the GDR founded on 7 August 1952 which, as an umbrella organisation for sport shooting, motor sport, gliding and radio sport, carried out pre-military training at schools, universities and workplaces and was dissolved in spring 1990.
