Condition commensurate with age. L. 34.5 to 40 cm, blade lengths 20 to 25 cm. Dress bayonets were privately purchased walking-out side arms of soldiers, made after the model of the short bayonet 98 and worn off duty. Carl Eickhorn in Solingen, founded in 1865, used the squirrel with sword as its pictorial mark; the Tigerwerk Lauterjung marked its products with the striding tiger. The Magdeburg sewing machine factory Mundlos, in existence since 1863, produced bayonets 84/98 new pattern for the Karabiner 98k as an armaments company from 1935 to 1944; the name “MUNDLOS” written out in full replaced the code S/244 and from 1940/41 was replaced by the letter code “ab”.
