Four bayonets with scabbards, Sweden M 1896, Yugoslavia M 1948 matching, Mauser export pattern Steel, wood, leather. Four bayonets with their associated scabbards. 1) Yugoslav bayonet M 1948 for the Mauser rifle M 48 with wooden grip scales, straight crossguard with muzzle ring and blade with wide fuller, the blade marked in Cyrillic at the base, transliterated “Preduzece 44” (Zavodi Crvena Zastava, Kragujevac), crossguard and carrying hook of the scabbard identically numbered “21008”, with the blued steel scabbard. 2) Swedish bayonet M 1896 for the Mauser rifle m/96 with knurled steel grip and downswept hooked quillon, the blade at the base with crown over the serial number “079”, on the reverse marked “EJ AB” with crown (Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur), with the steel scabbard in brown leather frog with press-stud strap and three rivets. 3) Bayonet of Mauser export pattern with wooden grip scales, muzzle ring and long, bright blade with fuller, with illegible stamps, with the steel scabbard. 4) Shorter bayonet of the same pattern with wooden grip scales, muzzle ring and blade with fuller, the crossguard stamped twice “410”, with the steel scabbard, the scabbard stud with crowned stamp. Used condition commensurate with age, the blades stained and partly tarnished, the scabbards rubbed and with losses to the bluing. Viewing recommended. L. 37 to 54.5 cm The Swedish bayonet M 1896 belongs to the Mauser rifle m/96 and was made from 1899 by Eskilstuna Jernmanufaktur AB and from 1913 at the state rifle factory Carl Gustafs Stad; the brown leather frog with three rivets and press-stud strap is the Swedish standard pattern. On this model the crown over the number at the base of the blade is the serial number, not a year of acceptance. The Yugoslav bayonet M 1948 belongs to the Mauser rifle M 48 and was made in Kragujevac; the company designation Preduzece 44 written in Cyrillic was used until 1953, thereafter the Latin lettering. Identical numbers on bayonet and scabbard identify a matching-numbered set belonging together. Bayonets of Mauser export pattern with muzzle ring and wooden grip scales were supplied between the World Wars by, among others, the Brno arms works for Persia and Turkey; in Turkey, bayonets of various origins were reworked from existing parts after 1935.
