Nicolas de LARGILLIÈRE (1656–1746), from the collection of Portrait of a Woman in a Red Dress Oil on canvas H_81 x W_64.5 cm Restorations Our portrait follows a model found in several works from Nicolas de Largillière’s studio. Indeed, we find this composition, with various variations, in the Portrait of the Marquise de Brisay, depicted against a landscape background, held in a private collection, or in a portrait that went on sale at Drouot on June 9, 1909, as lot 23, reproduced here. Although executed in a drier style than these other examples, our painting is probably the work of an artist associated with Largillière’s studio in the early years of the 18th century
