SOUVENIR OF THE GRAND TOUR An ancient departure scene beneath a triumphal arch surmounted by a Gorgon-headed mascaron. Oval medallion in patinated stucco within a molded, veined marble frame. Late 18th century, early 19th century. Height: 36 cm; Width: 29 cm NOTE. This classically inspired depiction is reminiscent of the scenes of sacrifices to Apollo depicted on the Arch of Constantine in Rome.
