An important mythological tapestry made of wool. It depicts the scene of Alexander the Great’s entry following the Battle of Gaugamela. Based on the work of Charles Le Brun (1619–1690), dated circa 1664. It features a border marked BB (Brussels-Brabant) and signed JLM or ILM. Possibly the work of Flemish workshops in Brussels, the signature suggests it may be a piece linked to the manufacturers of the well-known Leyniers family, active mainly between the 17th and 18th centuries. 300 x 435 cm. Good condition. Some wear on the edges.
Delivery is optional. You can use the carrier of your choice. The stated price does not include the lot price or the auction house fees.
