609 - "MENSA PHILOSOPHICA.—This little work deals with the things we use at the table: namely, the nature of food and drink; the various and pleasant table-talk with which we refresh ourselves at the table; and(ue) condit(i)onibus eo(rum) quibus in mensa conversamur Philosophice hilariterq(ue) proceditur, Quare hoc opus merito appellatur Mensa Philosophica" Cologne: Cornelis de Zierikzee, 1508. 8vo, hol., post. Painted cuts. 52 unpaginated pages. Old stains on the last pages. Engraving and border in port. Full-size engraving on the back of the cover, culminating with the emblems of the city of Cologne. Period marginal notes. A very rare work, of which we find few references; it is a medieval and Renaissance manual of etiquette and table manners.
