SOTO, JESÚS RAFAEL (1923–2005) Screen print on Plexiglas plate. CD cover designed by Jesús Rafael Soto for the recording presented in 2003 at the Atelier Picasso in Paris. The album features a repertoire of Latin American songs performed by Paco Ibáñez and Soto, evoking the cultural atmosphere of 1950s Paris and, in particular, the L'Escale cabaret, a gathering place for prominent Latin American artists and intellectuals. The artwork bears witness to the close friendship they maintained since meeting in 1956, when they formed the group Los Yares with Carmela, as well as their shared pursuit of beauty through artistic creation. The cover is an original design by Soto, created using screen printing on Plexiglas for this commemorative edition. 14 x 13 cm.
