In them, he thanks his correspondent regarding an article about him: “In your charming and kind article of April 1 on the Sikhs, you wrote a remark that touched me deeply because it is true [...].” He expresses a desire to meet with his correspondent again: “I was very sorry not to have been at home when you took the trouble to stop by [...].” Includes 2 handwritten poems by Barbier: -One, in his own hand, in 12 alexandrines, “Death hovering over you like a happy lover,” no place, no date [1841]—a manuscript copied from Barbier’s poem. Copy of “Cimarosa.” 1/2 p. in-8. Enclosed: -A small envelope with a condolence note addressed to “Monsieur Armand Dayot / 8 boulevard Flandrin.” - A facsimile of a poem written in cursive with violet ink by Emmanuel des Essarts, a teacher in Avignon; he was notably the one who introduced Mallarmé to the Felibre movement through his poem composed in 1905 for the centennial of Auguste Barbier. -THEATER 19th–20th Centuries. A collection of autograph and typescript documents related to the theater world of the 19th and 20th centuries and modern literature. -Hugues DELORME (1868–1942), a spirited poet, humorist, journalist, and playwright closely associated with both the Montmartre scene and Théodore de Banville. “Turtle.” A poem recited by Mr. Laffon at the Comédie-Française’s poetry matinees (December 1, 1923). Typewritten on tracing paper with annotations in violet ink in the author’s own hand, signed with his signature. 2 ff. in large in-4 format, glued together at one corner. Slightly creased. A very lovely metaphorical poem about a turtle, now considered unpublished. -Alphonse SECHE (1876–1964), writer, poet, and journalist. Short handwritten letter in pencil on Comédie-Française letterhead. 2 pp. Slightly creased and soiled. A brief note, possibly to his publisher, mentioning his *Paraboles*, which do not seem to be to the Fratellini’s liking in particular... -Octave FEUILLET (1821–1890), the “Musset of the families,” novelist and playwright. 2 autograph letters, in-18 format, (Paris), dated 1873 and added later in pencil, one of which is on mourning-bordered stationery. Related to his play *L’Acrobate*, which was performed in the 1870s and published later, addressing issues of rehearsal and performance, likely intended for the female performer. Also included: -COPPEE François, Poet (1842–1908) Signed autograph poem (no place, no date), 1 p., large in-12 format, on heavy paper, with a few tears. “La Mort des Oiseaux,” from the collection *Promenades et Intérieurs*.
