MORREN (father and son). La Belgique Horticole, a journal of gardens, greenhouses, and orchards. Liège, published by the General Management, 1851–1885. 28 in-8 volumes. Contemporary half-basane or red shagreen, occasionally with small nicks at the corners; spine with decorative faux raised bands, gilt title and scrolls, speckled edges (binding slightly rubbed, some spines more rubbed, a few scattered, discreet foxing spots, but the interior is fresh overall). An exceptional set of this rare series. Plates printed in vivid colors, bound uniformly in contemporary bindings. Numerous black-and-white engravings in the text. Portrait frontispieces. This copy is adorned with a large number of lithographic plates originally printed in black and later hand-colored using stencils, notably in Brussels by Seveyrens. Some plates are fold-out. Only one entry in the KDR. No copy is as complete in the CCFr, where there are only 7 entries for a total of about thirty volumes distributed among several institutions. A beautiful copy.
