Twietmeyer, (1850). 2 volumes, large 8vo, (3)-300 pp., (3)-316 pp. The publisher’s polychrome navy percaline; covers and spine cold-stamped and decorated with special gilded and colored dies; gilt edges (very slight wear on a few corners, edges, or clamps, a few foxing spots on the scrolls, residual foxing on the mounts of 3 plates, but a beautiful copy). Superb publisher’s cardboard binding. Repeated frontispiece and 30 ravishing plates engraved on steel by Geoffroy H. T. after Gavarni. First-edition copy with a plate on fine vellum.
