Linda Levi Buonajuti (Venice 1889 – Rome 1979) - Portrait of a Woman in a Blue Dress oil on cardboard 42.5 x 44.5 cm signed lower left: L. Buonajuti on the back, a charcoal and white chalk sketch depicting hands sewing. A still little-known artist but certainly deserving of rediscovery, the Venetian artist Linda Buonajuti developed her own personal style between the 1910s and 1920s. While aware of contemporary trends, she always maintained her own unique style. Specializing in portraiture, she mastered the medium thanks to her excellent ability to capture psychological nuances and her great expressive and sculptural power. This work can be linked to *Sleep*, from the diptych *Sleep* and *Will*, in which the depicted model appears to be the same. See G. Galassi, Linda Buonajuti, Vienna 1952. This lot is subject to Artists’ Resale Rights.
