A circular, hollowed-out wooden stamp for cooking or baking, dated 1583, double-sided and decorated with the coats of arms of: - Gebhard Truchsess of Waldburg, deposed Prince-Archbishop of Cologne - The Landgraviate of Hesse-Kassel. In 1583, Landgrave William IV of Hesse-Kassel (protector of the Protestants) and his brother were among the few princes to commit themselves militarily and politically to defending Waldburg against the Catholic Bavarian army. These coats of arms on both sides of the coin may indicate that this coin was specially minted for the court kitchens for the official banquet celebrating the military alliance of 1583. A way of affirming the agreement between the two states in the face of the Catholic imperial threat Diameter: 20.2 cm We thank Mr. Francis Sanchez for writing this description and identifying the coat of arms
