LARGE CHINESE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI MING DYNASTY 明 銅鎏金釋迦牟尼座像cast seated with in vajraparyankasana, the right hand held in bhumisparshamudra, the left in dhyanamudra, wearing a pleated robe and sash draped over his shoulders and falling in loose folds over his legs, the face with downcast eyes in serene expression, the long pendulous ears beneath the hair arranged in rows of tight curls topped with the domed ushnisha, with traces of gilt 35cm high; 7.2kg A comparable bronze seated figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, Ming dynasty, 16th-17th century, was sold at Sotheby's Paris, 16 June 2022, lot 68.
