RUSSIAN IMPERIAL PORCELAIN DESSERT PLATE WITH FRUIT AND BIRDS, PERIOD OF NICHOLAS I (1825-1855) Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg the shaped rim moulded in relief with shells and scrolls highlighted in gilding, the pink ground cavetto painted at the centre with a still life of plums, a pear, peaches, a lemon and cherries within a gilt border, surrounded by four reserves painted with exotic birds perched on branches, including a bird with blue and pink plumage, within raised gilt rococo cartouches, alternating with gilt foliate ornaments Marks: crowned cyrillic monogram ‘N I’ in underglaze blue (on the underside) D. circa 24.5 cm We would like to thank Vladimir Levshenkov, specially invited porcelain expert, for his assistance in cataloguing this lot.
