SKLENAR (Zdeněk). Pocta Arcimboldovi. [Homage to Arcimboldo]. Prague, Mlada fronta, 1969. Loose-leaf edition, illustrated with 5 etchings by the artist, with a filled-in cover and the publisher’s slipcase. Zdeněk Sklenář (1910–1986) was a Czech painter, graphic artist, and illustrator. After completing his studies at the School of Applied Arts in Prague, he opened his first studio. In 1944, the Ministry of the Interior of the Protectorate included Zdeněk Sklenář on the list of so-called “degenerate” Czech art. As a graphic artist, he was influenced by Amedeo Modigliani and, later, by Surrealism. He also drew inspiration from the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, to whose rediscovery he contributed significantly. Experts: Loup Axmann and Jean-Luc Boisseau
