(R) A JADE GROUP OF GOATS: MOTHER WITH KIDS, CHINA, 18TH TO 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 4 cm Wide 6 cm Depth 5 cm Weight: 121 grams A beautifully carved Chinese jade group of a mother goat with her young, dating to the eighteenth or nineteenth century. The animals rest close together in an affectionate, interlocking arrangement, their rounded bodies, gently turned heads and folded limbs carefully shaped in pale celadon stone. Soft translucency and creamy natural inclusions bring warmth to the polished surfaces, while delicate undercutting separates the individual forms. In Chinese symbolism the goat is associated with harmony, gentleness and auspicious prosperity, giving a mother-and-young group a particularly appealing meaning. The tender subject, compact sculptural composition and luminous jade make this a charming Qing-dynasty hardstone carving. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
