A LARGE BRONZE FIREGILT BUDDHA AMITAYUS TIBET 11TH TO 13TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 47 cm Wide 36 cm Depth 27 cm Weight: 14.3 Kilograms A large gilt-bronze figure of Buddha Amitayus seated in meditation on a broad double-lotus pedestal. The crowned deity sits with the legs crossed and both hands resting together before the lap, where a small vessel-like attribute is visible. An ornate five-part crown, pendant earrings, necklaces and detailed arm ornaments contrast with the smooth modelling of the torso and limbs. The face is composed and symmetrical, with gently lowered eyes and a slight smile. Remnants of a warm golden surface are visible across the figure, while deeper recesses have developed darker tones. The layered lotus petals and beaded details of the pedestal give the composition a strong architectural foundation. Amitayus is the Buddha of Infinite Life, frequently depicted in Himalayan Buddhist art with a vessel of the elixir of longevity. AGE CONFIRMED BY OXFORD TEST , FEBRUARY 2026
