(R) A RARE BULBOUS LONG-NECK VASE, BRICK RED GLAZE, CHINA, QING DYNASTY Dimensions: Height 27 cm Wide 21,1 cm Depth 21,1 cm Weight: 2170 grams A strongly proportioned Qing-dynasty vase with a compressed globular body rising into a tall cylindrical neck and slightly everted mouth. The vessel is covered in a deep brick-red to oxblood glaze, darker where it gathers around the shoulder and upper neck and lighter where it thins toward the rim. Fine crackling and subtle tonal shifts enliven what at first appears to be a purely monochrome surface. Red glazes occupy a special place in Chinese ceramic history because their successful firing demanded close control of kiln atmosphere and temperature. Qing potters repeatedly revisited earlier copper-red and Jun-inspired effects, producing surfaces valued not for painted ornament but for depth, luminosity and the small variations created in the kiln. The broad body gives the glaze a generous uninterrupted field, while the long neck draws the eye upward and emphasizes the changing density of colour. Its character comes from the union of a disciplined classical profile with a glaze whose nuances remain naturally individual. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
