(R) A LARGE PAINTING WITH COLOURS ON PAPER , KOREA, CHOSON PERIOD 18TH TO 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 110 cm Wide 85 cm (only Painting) Weight: 12.6 Kilograms with frame A large devotional painting on paper showing a centrally enthroned, haloed figure in layered red and green robes, attended by four smaller, richly dressed figures. The principal figure raises one hand in a gesture of address, while the surrounding attendants are arranged symmetrically against a field of stylised clouds and ornamental detail. Strong outlines, patterned textiles and warm, muted colours establish a solemn yet animated pictorial rhythm. The composition is consistent with the visual language of Korean Buddhist devotional painting, in which scale and placement distinguish the central sacred figure from its attendants. Rather than depicting a narrative episode, the painting presents an ordered assembly for contemplation. Its framed format and extensive painted surface give the group an imposing presence. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
