420 - (R) THREE GU TYPE BRONZE RITUAL VESSELS CHINA 18TH CENTURY

Auction ended

(R) THREE GU TYPE BRONZE RITUAL VESSELS CHINA 18TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 13,5 cm to 16 cm Weight: 1857 grams All A group of three bronze vessels of gu-inspired form, each with a spreading foot, swelling central section and widely flaring trumpet mouth. Cast bands and raised motifs articulate the profiles, while the different heights and proportions give the ensemble a measured visual rhythm. Their dark, varied patinas and worn highlights bring out the relief ornament along the necks and central registers. The gu form derives from ancient Chinese ritual bronze traditions and was repeatedly revisited in later decorative and antiquarian metalwork. These three vessels emphasise the architectural strength of the silhouette: a narrow waist mediates between the broad base and the open mouth. Displayed together, they show how variations on a shared historical form can create a coherent group. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
