A CHINESE POTTERY HORSE Dimensions: Height 37 cm Wide 14 cm Depth 41 cm Weight: 3762 grams A Chinese pottery figure of a standing, saddled horse, modelled on a low rectangular base. The animal stands firmly on four legs with its head slightly lowered, pointed ears erect and the short tail raised behind the rounded body. The pale body provides a strong contrast to the colourful trappings: a green saddle and saddlecloth are bordered by amber-brown harness fittings and decorative details picked out around the chest and head. The harness and saddle are arranged symmetrically, lending emphasis to the horse's broad neck and powerful torso. The restrained modelling of the body allows the vivid areas of green and amber glaze to stand out.
