(R) A PAIR FROST CLASS VASES, CHINA, EARLY 1900 Dimensions: Height 20,5 cm Diameter 6 cm each Weight 408 grams both A matched pair of slender cylindrical frosted-glass vases, each finished with a gilt rim and delicately painted in polychrome enamels. Birds perch among flowering plants and branches, the soft matte ground lending the decoration a subdued, almost mist-like quality and allowing the finely brushed colours to stand out with particular clarity. The combination of floral and bird subjects belongs to a long-established Chinese pictorial tradition associated with seasonal beauty and auspicious natural imagery. Here the familiar theme is translated onto glass in a refined decorative manner characteristic of the early 20th century. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
