(R) A PAINTING OF A DAOIST OFFICIAL, CHINA APPROX. 1800 Dimensions: Height 136 cm Wide 89 cm Weight: 9,2 Kilograms An imposing Chinese painting of a Daoist official dating to around 1800, showing the dignified figure in sumptuous red ceremonial robes decorated with dragons, clouds and auspicious emblems. The long-bearded official wears a tall headdress and holds a ruyi sceptre, a symbol of authority, fulfilment and good fortune. Rich passages of red and gold contrast with the restrained background, focusing attention on the expressive face, flowing garments and carefully observed attributes of rank. The large framed composition reflects the ceremonial grandeur of Chinese Daoist religious portraiture. With its monumental scale and magnificent costume details, the painting is a striking example of late-Qing sacred and official imagery. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
