(R) A WHITE-GLAZED PORCELAIN LIDDED JAR, CHINA, YUAN DYNASTY, 14TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 7,1 cm Diameter 14 cm Weight: 437 grams A low circular covered jar with a gently domed lid and rounded sides, both articulated by closely spaced vertical flutes. A soft white glaze covers the surfaces, collecting subtly in the grooves and giving the otherwise simple form a quiet play of light and shadow. The cover meets the body along a clear horizontal seam, while the small variations in the fluting and glaze lend the vessel an engaging handmade character. White-glazed ceramics have long been admired in China for the clarity with which they reveal a vessel's shape and the potter's handling of the surface. On this compact jar, decoration is inseparable from structure: the repeated ribs follow the curve of the lid and body, emphasising their rounded volume. Its visual effect is one of restraint, balance and carefully modulated texture. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
