A BRONZE VAJRA TIBET 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 4 cm Wide 15 cm Depth 15 cm Weight: 393 grams A substantial nineteenth-century Tibetan bronze vajra, formed with a carefully ribbed central handgrip and balanced, multi-pronged terminals at either end. The slender outer prongs curve inward towards the central axes, while small decorative collars and sculptural details create a refined rhythm along the shaft. Warm bronze tones and areas of darker patination enrich the surface, with lighter rubbed edges emphasising the tactile construction. The vajra is one of the essential ritual implements of Vajrayana Buddhism, symbolising the diamond-like indestructibility of enlightened wisdom and the power of the thunderbolt. Its robust proportions, precise symmetry and elegant casting make this example an appealing work of Himalayan ritual metalwork.
