(R) FAMILIE-ROSE PORCELAIN CUP WITH PLUM BLOSSOMS, QING DYNASTY Dimensions: Height 6,7 cm Wide 8,1 cm Depth 8,1 cm Weight: 116 grams A finely potted famille-rose porcelain cup, its gently rounded sides decorated with swallows in flight among flowering plum branches. Pink blossoms, dark branchwork and restrained gilding form a continuous composition around the vessel, while gilt bands at the rim and foot sharpen the elegant profile against the luminous white porcelain body. The base bears an underglaze-blue six-character Guangxu reign mark. Plum blossom, among the first flowers to appear at the approach of spring, is a long-established emblem of resilience and renewal in Chinese art; combined with birds in flight, it gives the decoration a lively seasonal character.
