(R) A CHINESE BRONZE MIRROR, TANG DYNASTY OR LATER Dimensions: Height 16 cm Wide 16 cm Depth 1 cm Weight: 522 grams A circular bronze mirror with a raised central suspension knob surrounded by concentric bands of cast ornament. A geometric border frames the inner field, and a broad, comparatively plain outer rim provides a visual counterweight to the intricate centre. The reverse is undecorated, showing an even, mellowed surface with areas of wear and colour variation. In early Chinese metalwork, mirrors were both practical objects and highly developed decorative surfaces, their reverse sides carrying patterns that could express order, protection or auspicious meaning. This example relies on the clarity of its circular geometry rather than figural imagery. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
