A SMALL BRONZE GANESHA INDIA 16TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 4,3 cm Wide 3 cm Depth 1,5 cm Weight: 35,8 grams A small bronze image of Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu deity, seated frontally beneath a fan-shaped aureole. The compact figure is shown with multiple arms and a gently curving trunk, the large ears and rounded body remaining clearly legible despite the miniature scale. A low pedestal anchors the composition, while the dark surface carries areas of green oxidation and reddish accretion. Ganesha is widely revered as a remover of obstacles and a deity associated with auspicious beginnings, wisdom and prosperity. Small portable bronzes allowed such imagery to be encountered at close range in domestic or personal devotional settings.
