(R) A CHINESE TERRACOTTA DIGNITARIE, MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 65,5 cm Wide 21 cm Depth 16 cm Weight: 5365 grams A large fifteenth-century Chinese Ming-dynasty terracotta dignitary, modelled standing upon a hexagonal pedestal and holding a circular offering tray at chest height. The long court robe retains attractive green and cream-coloured glaze, while the face and hands reveal warmer clay tones beneath a tall official's hat. The figure is formed in three sections and displays the formal pose, costume and attributes associated with Chinese funerary attendants. Ming-dynasty mingqi figures were placed in tombs to evoke the status and comforts of earthly court life in the afterlife. With its substantial scale, engaging colour and commanding upright silhouette, this glazed terracotta official makes an impressive display sculpture. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
