A FIREGILT BRONZE WITH SHAKTI TIBET 18TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 10 cm Wide 8 cm Depth 4 cm Weight: 469 grams A dynamic gilt-coloured multi-armed deity seated above a broad double-lotus base, the many arms radiating outward around a vigorously modelled torso. An elaborate crown and tall, flame-like headdress rise above the central face, while different hands hold ritual implements or form expressive gestures. The crowded arrangement is nevertheless anchored by the repeated lotus petals of the pedestal. Multi-armed figures are a powerful device in Himalayan Buddhist iconography, allowing several attributes and aspects of a deity to be represented at once. The sculpture's appeal lies in its intricate layering of arms, ornaments and ritual forms, set against the clear architectural rhythm of the base.
