QIANLONG STYLE KIDNEY-BEAN RED GLAZED GUANYIN VASE Dimensions: Height 28,2 cm Wide 13 cm Depth 13 cm Weight: 1478 grams A slender porcelain vase with a rounded baluster body, long neck and gently flaring mouth. A pale green glaze is overlaid with irregular copper-red splashes, concentrated around the shoulder before breaking into smaller patches below. The unpredictable colour transitions give the surface a painterly quality. Copper-red effects were prized in Qing ceramics for the difficulty of controlling their colour during firing. Later potters repeatedly revisited these admired glaze traditions, including the softly mottled tones associated with kidney-bean red. The restrained silhouette allows the shifting red and green glaze to remain the principal attraction. The base bears a Qianlong seal mark, which does not by itself establish the vessel's date.
