A SMALL INDIAN BRONZE GANESHA Dimensions: Height 3,5 cm Wide 2,5 cm Depth 1,5 cm Weight: 26 grams A miniature bronze Ganesha seated frontally on a low base, the elephant-headed deity rendered with multiple arms gathered tightly around the body. Heavy green and reddish-brown patination obscures some of the finer detail but also emphasises the age and density of the small casting. Ganesha is among the most widely venerated Hindu deities, associated with auspicious beginnings, wisdom and the removal of obstacles. In this tiny bronze the familiar iconography is compressed into a highly portable devotional image, its small scale encouraging close, intimate handling.
