A SEATED GILT BRONZE WHITE TARA TIBET 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 22,5 cm Wide 15 cm Depth 10 cm Weight: 2400 grams A richly gilded seated figure of Tara, shown cross-legged on a double-lotus pedestal with a calm, softly modelled face. One hand descends toward the knee in a gesture of generosity, while the other rises before the chest; flowering lotus stems ascend beside both shoulders. An elaborate tiered crown, pendant earrings and necklaces are punctuated by small turquoise-coloured settings, and flowing scarves curl outward around the figure. In Tibetan Buddhist imagery, White Tara is associated with compassion, protection and long life. The serene expression and balanced seated posture contrast with the animated movement of the ornaments and lotus sprays.
