(R) A PAIR BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN PLATES, CHINA, KANGXI , 1700 Dimensions: Height 3,6 cm Diameter 27 cm each Weight: 1170 grams both A pair of shallow blue-and-white porcelain dishes with broad, gently flaring rims. Each is painted with flowering branches and scrolling foliage in the central well, framed by bands of smaller floral motifs around the cavetto and rim. Variations in the cobalt wash give the petals and leaves a lively tonal range, while the pale glazed ground keeps the densely patterned surfaces clear and luminous. The reverses carry sparse blue sprigs and a central mark within a circular border. The combination of freely brushed botanical motifs and carefully ordered border decoration belongs to the long tradition of Chinese blue-and-white table wares. Seen side by side, the plates reveal subtle differences in the handling of their shared design, making the pair attractive both as functional forms and as examples of decorative brushwork. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country.
