A GROUP OF FIVE SOUTH INDIAN BRONZE FIGURES 15TH to 17TH CENTURY Dimensions: 6 to 10,5 cm Weight: 504 grams all A group of five South Indian bronze devotional figures, comprising standing and seated deities and attendants on integral bases. The figures vary in scale and pose, from slender standing female forms to a seated multi-armed deity, yet share finely incised jewellery, garments and warm brown patination with areas of green oxidation. Presented together, the bronzes demonstrate the variety of small-scale Hindu devotional sculpture, where individual identities are expressed through posture, hand gestures and attributes. Dimensions and weights are recorded for four of the five figures; no additional measurement has been introduced for the fifth.
