(R) A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE HEXAGONAL VASE WITH DRAGON AND FLORAL PANELS FROM CHINA Dimensions: Height 56 cm Wide 23 cm Depth 23 cm Weight: 6017 grams A tall hexagonal porcelain vase with a splayed foot, broad shoulders and a long neck rising to a flared mouth. Its six faces are covered with alternating decorative panels of dragons, flowers and other auspicious motifs, framed by dense geometric grounds. Greens, yellow, aubergine and iron-red stand out against the pale porcelain, while the changing direction of the panels makes the vase visually engaging from every side. The famille verte palette is especially effective on a faceted vessel, where the flat planes offer clearly defined fields for contrasting designs. Dragon imagery introduces associations of authority and good fortune, while floral ornament softens the formal geometry of the body. The source records a six-character Kangxi mark beneath the base but describes the vase as a later Qing revival piece. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission.
