(R) A HEAD OF A COURT LADY, SINO-THAI, RATANA KOSIN PERIOD, THAILAND, 19TH CENTURY Dimensions: Height 28 cm Wide 20 cm Depth 16 cm without base Weight: 7914 grams with base A substantial carved stone head of a court lady, the face composed with gently lowered almond-shaped eyes, softly rounded cheeks and a small closed mouth. An elaborate headdress frames the calm features, while pierced ear ornaments and scrolling decorative elements add complexity to the otherwise restrained modelling. The work combines courtly Thai ornament with facial conventions that suggest a Sino-Thai artistic context during the Rattanakosin period. Such cross-cultural features reflect the cosmopolitan visual environment of 19th-century Thailand. Mounted on a later wooden base. For lots marked with (R), a 19% VAT is added to the combined hammer price and commission. This VAT is waived for: - Private buyers outside the EU who officially export the items.- Businesses inside the EU holding a valid VAT number, exporting to their home country. Proper export documentation is required to waive the VAT
