Against a soft yellow ground, delicately outlined figures in green, iron-red and muted enamels inhabit a lively scene of elegantly dressed women and attendants. The broad central field gives the narrative room to unfold, while the flaring rim provides a graceful counterpoint to the full body. The silhouette recalls the Chinese yen-yen vase, a form admired for its contrast between expansive shoulder and trumpet-shaped neck.
